Welcome to another QME ’Sonic Book’, a multifaceted experience that not only gives you our videos to watch, but also provides a deeper understanding of what lies behind the ensemble and the composers’ works. Like any book, you can read it in order or dip in and out as you like.
Sonic Book: Instrument(alist)s features specially-created experimental music films created by artist Tomasz Madajczak.
In pieces by Kathy Hinde, Marianthi Papalexandri-Alexandri and Irene Murphy, all commissioned by QME, we explore the idea of sonic/musical instruments and a performer’s relationship with them. Instruments guide and shape what we do with them, acting not only as sound-makers but as guides that shape a piece and a performance.
